Malta, the cutest little island in Europe

Malta, often left off of travel lists to visit due to how small it is, but thoroughly worth it if you can make it.
Flights from the UK are frequent enough to make a plan, albeit a little outside of my preferred optimum flight time, my trip started both a 2am alarm call and a 6.30am flight, so not ideal but doable.
So why Malta?

The bluest of blue seas.
I have already seen some pretty stunning waters in my travels such as the coral reef on the Whitsunday islands in Australia, and yes they are gorgeous and crystal clear, I hadn’t really seen any that are the bluest of the blue. And they were right! If take a boat trip over to Gozo or the Comino islands you will find the most beautiful waters I’ve ever seen. Take your swimming costume with you as you are going to want to jump head first in when you get there, guaranteed!

History is everywhere!
Now don’t get me wrong, I do love to relax whilst travelling but I also equally (or maybe slightly more so) love to explore and seek out historical beauty. Malta has one of the oldest settlements inhave come across, the old city of Mdina, built circa 700BC. Filled with old churches, houses, horses and ice creams it has something for everyone. The Maltese are incredibly proud of their old city centre and take great care of it even now. No cars are allowed through which I think adds to the beauty of it. And as you can see from above, you may even find beautiful blossomed trees whilst winding in and out of the streets and walkways.

The coastlines are gorgeous!
You’ll find gorgeous views, old forts And humongous olive trees whilst wandering around the coastlines of Malta. The olive trees symbolising harmony and friendship, and the forts showing off yet more history on the island.
TOP TIP - start hiking an hour before sunset to catch the actual sunset in prime location as it gets pretty busy.

Food glorious food.
Food is something to be celebrated on the island. Families coming together to eat and share in their days events. Its not even uncommon for mid week big family gatherings to happen as everyone knows everyone and are all interconnected and easy to get to. They all celebrate with their Maltese wine (delicious by the way) and freshly caught food. As a vegetarian I didn’t try their speciality of rabbit, my travel partner did and raved about it, but everything else they had to offer was lush from the freshly harvested olives and tomatoes, to baked sweet treats from that very morning. Yum yum yum yum yum!

So why Malta? I say why not Malta!!!
